What Our Renters Have To Say

Taken from the Anodyne house guest book.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in your lovely house. We especially appreciated the nice combination of furnishings and tasteful details. South Bristol is a beautiful secluded little village and we had fun taking walks and exploring every day.

Very comfortable and comforting. A great place for a "family fix". Dishwasher and laundry facilities well used! Thank you.

From the cast and crew of the feature film "Harborside" - thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful house. It made a sometimes stressful 2 weeks feel like home.

This was a beautiful place to get away from it all! We loved your house and especially the wonderful flower garden!

La region est superbe, les paysages sant magnifiques meme sans soleil. It's a wonderful house. The beach at the Reid State Park is a paradise.

Famille Lessard, Quebec, 2001

South Bristol is a quiet village and the people were very hospitable - a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor where we stayed on a previous trip. Thanks for the wonderful accommodations.

Elwyn Family, Illinois, 2002

What a great place for a family reunion. Fantastic blueberries! A fine location with weather to match. And lobsters, too!

And finally, this from a German family who come every year:
David Andrews asked me to give you a quick feed back, so to speak from guest to guest.

We - my wife, our two children (today 4 and 6) and myself - discovered Anodyne house in 1998 through the Internet. In April '98 we went up (from Boston) there for a few hours to check it out and fell instantly in love with it, both with the House and its surroundings and with the area - South Bristol and beyond (and by now consider Betsy and David good friends). Since then we spent each summer 2 weeks up there, and try to come to South Bristol in between as often as possible. As a matter of fact our children call Anodyne House by now "our summer house", though probably Betsy and David would not appreciate that.

Anodyne House can not be associated with the common shortcomings of a summer renting space, basically because it isn't. It is Betsy and David's home, i.e. fully equipped with everything one might expect from a private home. The yard is huge, well protected and provides all the privacy one wants. And South Bristol, with its Lobstering activities, its wharfs and its local people is just a few minutes walk away. And since David added a little rowing boat to the house, we spent every day many hours on the water, and our children can't get enough to pass under the local draw bridge, which opens frequently for the fisher boats. And if you want to discover more: just some 10-15 minutes by car and you may spent a day at the beach at Pemaquid beach or visit Pemaquit point and its famous lighthouse, or have a lobster in New Harbor, take a boat ride to watch seals and other animals, ...

To make a long story short: we will spent as much time as possible at Anodyne house, as long as we are privileged to do so. You see, I can highly recommend the place if you want to spent an enjoyable and peaceful vacation, but of course only as long as we can keep our slot (otherwise I will have a really nasty family argument back home).

I wish you a pleasant vacation.

With best regards
